The 2007 Moto-Tournée...

On July 3, 4 and 5, Jean Pagé was the designated leader of this long motorcycle ride over Québec highways and byways. Under an impressive police and media escort, the popular sportscaster rode at the head of the convoy of a hundred generous bikers who racked up some 1,200 kilometres over six regions – Montérégie, Cantons-de-l’Est, Chaudière-Appalaches, Québec, Mauricie and Centre-du-Québec.

On their gleaming machines, they became standard bearers for the Marie-Vincent Foundation to raise awareness of the devastating effects of maltreatment on the lives of children. The long ride ended in Sorel-Tracy with Mayor Marcel Robert and a crowd of citizens on hand to welcome Jean Pagé and his impressive convoy. Organized by the Foundation, this benefit ride yielded a fund collection of $61,500.

This outstanding result would not have been possible without the participation of TQS and Rythme FM, the Moto-Tournée’s media partners since its beginning, the contribution of generous sponsors such as the RBC Royal Bank of Canada, and the overwhelming generosity of participant motorcyclists tour and Québec citizens, who contributed over half the funds collected! The Foundation also wishes to especially thank the Moto-Tournée organizing committee, whose members—Gabrielle Asselin, Dorothée Barnes, Lise Devost, Hélène Jutras, Bob Lacombe, Dany Massé, Chantal Sévigny and the regrettably deceased Michel Prince—spared neither time nor effort to guarantee the incomparable success of this benefit activity.

To ensure a safe and pleasant event, exceptional security measures were arranged, assured by:

• An emergency medical services unit (Unité d’Intervention Médicale à Moto du Québec) with two health care professionals on motorcycles equipped with everything necessary in case of an accident.
Six Blue Knights–police officers either retired or on vacation–riding at the head of the convoy to oversee security on the road, assisted on departures and stopovers by various regional chapters of the Blue Knights.
• Regional motorcycle tourism associations that lent a hand to the organizing committee during stopovers.
