The Montreal Police Cycling Tour, "Preserving the Magic of Childhood",
in aid of the Missing Children’s Network and the Marie-Vincent Foundation

Montreal, August 1st, 2006 - From Thursday, August 10th through Wednesday, August 16th, a group of 12 dynamic Montreal police officers will cycle some 1,140 km through seven Québec regions, raising funds in aid of two worthy non-profit organizations dedicated to the care and well-being of children.

Marie-Pier Perreault, a talented 17-year old pop singer, is acting as the official spokesperson for the "Preserving the Magic of Childhood"Cycling Tour.

On August 10th, the team will officially depart on their cycling tour from the headquarters of the Montreal Police Department, at 1441 St-Urbain Street. Heading for Gaspé, the cyclists will travel through Sherbrooke, St-Georges-de-Beauce, Québec City, Rivière-du-Loup, Rimouski and Ste-Anne-des-Monts. In every city, the police officers will sensitize the public to the importance of protecting the lives of children, and preserving the magic of childhood. These stopovers will also provide an opportunity to raise funds in aid of the Missing Children’s Network and the Marie-Vincent Foundation.

The Missing Children's Network, founded in 1985, is the only non-profit, humanitarian organization in Québec dedicated to the search for missing children, the prevention of aggressions, abductions and runaways, as well as the education and sensitization of the public with respect to these problems.
As for the non-profit Marie-Vincent Foundation, founded in 1975, its mission is to prevent all forms of maltreatment and abuse for children under the age of 12. The Foundation also supports the Centre d’expertise en agression sexuelle Marie-Vincent, which provides integrated, cutting-edge services for young sexual-aggression victims and their families.
