The Marcelle and Jean Coutu Foundation Donates $150,000

Montreal, 19 June 2008-The Marcelle and Jean Coutu Foundation has made an exceptionally large donation of $150,000 to the Marie-Vincent Foundation. This generous donation will be used to set up the therapy rooms in the new premises of the Centre d’expertise en agression sexuelle Marie-Vincent.

The president of the Marcelle and Jean Coutu Foundation, Marie-Josée Coutu, is delighted to offer this support to the Marie-Vincent Foundation. She has visited the premises of the Centre  d’expertise and has been deeply moved by the Marie-Vincent Foundation’s cause and by the victims who seek the Foundation’s help.

Mrs. Coutu was particularly impressed by the quality of the care and expert services offered to the children and their families by the team at the Centre d’expertise. "It is crucial that all these unfortunate young victims of sexual abuse should be cared for by a team of professional, competent and warm people like the one working at the Centre d’expertise Marie-Vincent. We are convinced that setting up the four specialized rooms and a video-interview room will help in providing the care these children need so much."

Inaugurated in 2005, the Centre d’expertise en agression sexuelle Marie-Vincent houses, under one roof, specialized services, researchers, experts, and helpers from various sectors—all working together in an environment especially adapted to the needs of abused children and their families.

The Marie-Vincent Foundation is very grateful to the Marcelle and Jean Coutu Foundation for helping it to pursue its work with Québec’s young victims of sexual abuse.
