Bell Canada makes an exceptionnal 150,000$ donation to the Marie-Vincent Foundation

Montreal, Friday 19 October 2007 - As part of the Marie-Vincent Foundation’s annual fund-raising campaign, Bell Canada has donated the sum of $150,000. Thanks to this exceptionally generous donation, the Marie-Vincent Foundation is better able to pursue its mission with mistreated and, more particularly, sexually abused children.

Founded in 1975, the Marie-Vincent Foundation collects funds to finance its activities of sensitizing the public to the scandal of child abuse, of preventing such abuse, and of helping its victims.

Seeing the pressing need for specialized services on the part of sexually abused children, the Foundation inaugurated, in 2005, the Centre d’expertise en agression sexuelle Marie-Vincent and the Chaire interuniversitaire Marie-Vincent sur les aggressions sexuelles envers les enfants. The Centre provides the specialized services of professionals, researchers, experts, and helpers from other sectors who all work together in an environment especially adapted to the needs of abused children and their entourage.

The symbolic cheque was presented by: Mr. Jean Saint-Onge, chairman of the Marie-Vincent Foundation’s board of directors; Mrs. Nathalie Le Prohon, co-chair of the fund- raising campaign; Mr. Stéphane Boisvert, co-chair of the fund-raising campaign and president of Bell Canada’s Enterprise Group; and Mrs. Dominique Richard, managing director of the Marie Vincent Foundation.
