Ongoing research...

This project falls within the Chair's 1st line of research, whose objective is to assess the needs of victims and their families. The project focuses on analysis of the after-effects of sexually abused children (ages 6-12). It will allow creation of an exhaustive needs profile for children who receive treatment at the Centre.

The project will also enable exploration of the phenomenon of co-occurrence of sexual violence, other forms of ill-treatment and behavioural problems. For comparative purposes, the project includes data collection from other sites, in particular, Centre partner sites (Sainte-Justine hospital and the Montérégie Youth Centre).  Data collection has been ongoing since February 2006.

The project also aims at assessing the implementation and effectiveness of individual intervention offered by the Centre, which falls under the Chair's 2nd line of research, concerned with assessing services offered by the Centre. The project includes longitudinal follow-up of children, which will allow starting exploration of life trajectories of sexually abused children in relation to certain typologies which will be developed within the project. The latter objective falls within the Chair's 4th line of research, which examines development trajectories of children affected by sexual violence.
