A word from the spokesperson...

- François Morency
In 1998, while travelling between shows, I heard a Marie-Vincent Foundation commercial on the car radio. I always found it very upsetting when a case of child abuse made the headlines, so the advertisement was all it took to get me to call the Foundation and offer my support. I then became the Foundation’s spokesperson as well as a member of its Board of Directors.
The idea of abusing defenceless children makes me sad and very angry, but that is not the only reason I became involved. The social cost of child maltreatment is significant. How can we expect youngsters who have suffered sexual abuse in their youth to develop a normal life and make a decent place for themselves in our society?
Like most of you, I had the good fortune of enjoying a happy childhood, attended to by responsible parents who gave me the necessary care and affection to ensure my well-being and development. Today, such happiness makes me feel that I have a debt towards child victims of sexual abuse whose early years were shattered by senseless, revolting acts of violence.
We need to act now and stop the cycle of child abuse. I am sure I do not have to convince you of the utmost importance of the cause the Marie-Vincent Foundation is defending.
Please help us give back a little of the childhood that was stolen from sexually abused children.
