A word from the Executive Director...

Dominique Richard

When a child is the victim of maltreatment or, worse yet, of sexual abuse by a parent or close relation, he or she feels very much alone and vulnerable in a drama that will impact heavily throughout the rest of his or her life. The child needs an adult who can, first of all, listen to and believe the story to be told. The child also needs one or more grownups to help him or her get through the ordeal and ensure protection from the abuser and any new act of abuse. And as with any form of violence, the child needs to know that he or she will be protected and that justice will be done.

At the Marie-Vincent Foundation, these issues are at the core of our daily efforts. True, we do not intervene directly in the children's lives. But as we are dedicated to raising people's consciousness about their issues, we are, in a sense, representatives of these child victims to the mainstream public.

By raising funds to finance the resources required to sensitize the public, we hope to help heal the wounds of our youngest citizens and contribute to ending the cycle of abuse. On behalf of the Marie-Vincent Foundation, I entreat your kind generosity to ensure that the work of our Foundation will continue.

IT SHOULDN’T HURT TO BE A CHILD.
