Our reason for being: raise funds to help child victims of maltreatment everywhere in Québec.
Maltreatment inflicted upon children 12 years old and younger – neglect, psychological maltreatment, physical abuse, behavioural problems, abandonment and sexual abuse, constitutes the heart of our preoccupations.
Did you know, according to a Québec study done by the Centre jeunesse (2009), that during the course of 2008-2009, close to 18 000 children, aged 12 and younger, were reported being subjected to at least one form of maltreatment?
What about the after-effects? Post-traumatic stress symptoms, depression, drug or alcohol abuse, revictimisation, sexual behaviour problems and suicidal tendencies are amongst the main ones. You will agree that proper specialized care is essential for these victims.
The Marie-Vincent Foundation’s main purpose is to help children victim of maltreatment by mainly supporting the Centre d’expertise Marie-Vincent – specialized services for child sexual abuse victims, and various projects throughout the community that offer help to child victims of maltreatment all over Québec.
